TVS Defense Training was founded on a simple conviction — that firearms training should be safe, structured, and accessible to every law-abiding citizen in Maryland.
Our Founder
David is the founder and lead instructor of TVS Defense Training. He is a Maryland State Police Qualified Handgun Instructor, NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, NRA Certified CCW Instructor, NRA Range Safety Officer, Stop the Bleed instructor dedicated to helping students become safe, confident, and responsible firearm owners.
Before becoming a firearms instructor, David served as an EMT and firefighter, experiences that reinforced the importance of preparation, sound decision-making, and remaining calm under pressure. Those principles continue to shape every class he teaches today.
With a professional background in security and risk management, David believes that effective training begins with strong fundamentals—not shortcuts. Whether teaching a first-time firearm owner or working one-on-one with an experienced shooter, his focus remains the same: create a professional, welcoming learning environment where students can build confidence through safe firearm handling, practical marksmanship, and continued skill development.
At TVS Defense Training, earning a certificate is only the beginning. The goal is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to continue developing long after class ends.
